There are three levels of EVT, and each has its own unique set of emergency vehicle technician skill requirements. • EVT II: responsible for performance checks
• EVT III: responsible for the supervision and managerial skills

For the 2020 edition, all JPRs were reviewed for accuracy and relevance. Additional notable changes include:

• Incorporation of NFPA 1911, Standard for the Inspection, Maintenance, Testing, and Retirement of In-Service Emergency Vehicles, requirements for professional qualifications as applicable for each position
• Revision of Annex D to include the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s “16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives”
